Can MediGuide diagnose me or prescribe medicine?

Accepted Answer

No, and it will not try. MediGuide never gives a personal diagnosis and never prescribes or adjusts medication. It explains what conditions and drugs are, how they work, and what clinicians look for — then directs you to a qualified professional for anything about your own health.

Question 3

What happens if I describe emergency symptoms?

Accepted Answer

MediGuide detects time-critical red flags — chest pain radiating to the arm or jaw, stroke signs, anaphylaxis, severe breathing difficulty, major bleeding — and leads with an instruction to contact emergency services, before any explanation. Emergency numbers shown include 112 (India), 911 (US), 999 or 112 (UK/EU) and 000 (Australia).

What if I am having thoughts of harming myself?

Accepted Answer

MediGuide will respond with crisis support rather than a medical lecture, and will never treat such a message as off-topic. It shows free confidential helplines: Tele-MANAS 14416 and KIRAN 1800-599-0019 in India, 988 in the US and Canada, 116 123 in the UK and Ireland, and findahelpline.com for anywhere else. It will never provide information that could facilitate self-harm.

Who is MediGuide for?

Medical, physiotherapy, nursing and allied-health students preparing for exams such as NEET-PG, USMLE, PLAB, NCLEX and OSCEs; practising clinicians wanting a fast refresher; and members of the public who want to understand a diagnosis or a medicine in plain language.

Which subjects does it cover?

Human physiology, gross and clinical anatomy, physiotherapy and rehabilitation, pathology, pharmacology, microbiology, biochemistry, genetics, diagnostics and laboratory medicine, nutrition, first aid, and the clinical specialties including cardiology, neurology, orthopaedics and paediatrics.

Does it answer non-medical questions?

Accepted Answer

No. MediGuide is deliberately scoped to medicine and healthcare. Programming, creative writing, entertainment, sport, politics and finance are declined. The one exception is a message expressing distress or self-harm, which is always answered with support.

Is my conversation stored?

Your conversation lives in your browser session only and is cleared when you close the tab. It is not written to any MediGuide database and no personal health information is retained on a server.
